Expanding the population ...of a rare plant!
Accomplished through strong partnerships.
Working under funding from Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort and in partnership with the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, experienced volunteers from the Utah Native Plant Society and Red Butte Garden's Consevation Center, we have expanded the known range and existing sub populations of the rare Wasatch Shooting Star.
Survey crews are regularly combing suitable habitat images this summer in a coordinated, systematic manner to document, as much as possible, the known range of this plant. After only a few days of searching, project staff both located new populations and expanded sub populations of the plant.
